Why postgraduate research?

We provide excellent postgraduate research opportunities, based on the expertise of our staff and state of the art facilities.  As a PhD student you will pursue specialised, ground-breaking investigations, supported by your supervisor.  You will have access to local government, schools and hospitals that can facilitate your work and will benefit from the results of your research.

You will be able to apply for funding for conference attendance and international exchanges, to enrich your PhD experience and develop personal networks and collaborations with researchers in other leading universities.

Our students have access to specialised research facilities including a child-friendly development lab, eye tracking equipment, EEG lab and movement innovation lab. Click on the options below to find out more.

Research Culture

Our cohesive and supportive community of more than 50 PhD students runs a peer-mentoring programme and also organises its own annual conference with invited external speakers. Our PhD students are an integral part of our seminar programme and research cluster meetings, and it is expected that new students will contribute to this research culture.
