Bedside Screen Criteria explained

Bedside Screen Basics                 Bedside Screen Criteria               What to do with a Bedside Screen outcome?

The daily bedside screen is designed to prompt staff to wean patients more efficiently and progress to extubation at the earliest opportunity. It should not delay your weaning practice in any way. If your patient fails ANY of the screen criteria and you still wish to progress to an SBT please do so. However, if your patient passes all 5 of the criteria you must give justified rationale for not progressing to an SBT. A key has been developed to help classify legitimate reasons for not progressing to SBT.
