A diet that emphasizes vegetables, fruits and whole grains and minimizes saturated fat may be good for long-term cognitive health. This is what a study by Dr Claire McEvoy, published in the journal Neurology, from the Centre for Public Health has found. The study ranked 2,621 people on their degree of adherence to three different diets considered to be good for the heart. So which diet is best? “We can say at this point that a heart-healthy diet like the Mediterranean diet is a good option,” says Dr McEvoy, “It’s palatable and adaptable, and in that respect, it’s a pretty good dietary pattern.”
