International Association for Dental Research (IADR) Conference, Belfast 2017

The Northern Ireland Cohort for the Longitudinal Study of Ageing (the NICOLA Study) is largest public health study in Northern Ireland to examine the social, psychological and biological factors that determine healthy ageing. The outcomes of NICOLA participants comprising over 8000 people aged fifty and older will be assessed at approximately 2-year intervals for at least 10 years.

The NICOLA Study: Wave 1 Report will be launched on 27thNovember at Riddel Hall. Approximately 150 attendees are expected, including the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Michael McBride, and representatives from several Government departments, statutory and non-statutory sectors, funders, participants and researchers. The event will include the launch of the Wave 1 report and a speech by the Commissioner for Older People Eddie Lynch.

The NICOLA study was launched by the Junior Ministers in the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister in February 2014.
