Our Maths competition for years 13-14 pupils will be held on Friday 6 December this year in the Great Hall.

Thank you to those schools who have already registered.  We look forward to seeing you all on 6 December.

Please note that one team is permitted from each school.

The closing date for receipt of entries is Friday 29 November 2019.

Please note that on-site parking is not available for this event. However, small school buses will be permitted entry to the main university site
(University Square entrance) for drop-off and collection of pupils.  Please indicate if you require access for drop-off when registering.

We hope some of your pupils will be interested. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

If you have the ability and enjoy solving mathematical puzzles and problems then this is your chance to shine. All you need to do is register your team.

The competition will take place on Friday 6 December 2019 from 11 am to 3 pm in the Great Hall at Queen's University Belfast.

There is no entry fee. Teams should have between 2 and 4 members and its members should be in years 13–14. Each school can enter only one team, and every team should be accompanied on the day by a teacher.

There will be prizes for the first, second and third places. In addition, all participants will receive a certificate.

Places for the competition are limited, so they will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.

The closing date for entries is Friday 29 November 2019.

 

Schedule

Tea/coffee upon arrival from 10:30 am.

Please arrive in time for the competition to start at 11:00 sharp.

11:00 – 11:45 Round 1

Each team will work on a set of mathematical problems.

11:45 – 12:00 Break

Snacks and drinks will be provided.

12:00 – 12:45 Round 2

Each team will work on a set of mathematical puzzles.

12:45 – 13:30 Lunch

Lunch is not provided. Pupils and teachers are welcome to bring packed lunches. Lunch can also be bought from a few cafés within a few-minute walk of the venue.

13:30 – 15:00 Quiz and Prize Ceremony

The last part of the competition will be a maths table quiz.

Note that calculators are permitted, but may not necessarily be useful!
