School Physicist Recognised with Prestigious Institute of Physics Award

Professor Mihalis Mathioudakis, Head of Centre, at the School Astrophysics Research Centre, has been awarded the 2021 Institute of Physics Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin Medal and Prize for distinguished contributions to plasma, solar or space physics.

Alan Fitzsimmons awarded George Darwin Lectureship by the Royal Astronomical Society.

The George Darwin Lecture is given annually by an authoritative and engaging speaker on a suitable topic in astronomy. The award is named after the astronomer Sir George Darwin, the son of Charles Darwin.
