Current research project

Many-Body Theory of Positron Interactions

I am a member of Dermot Green’s team delivering the ERC-funded research programme “ANTI-ATOM: Many-body theory of antimatter interactions with atoms, molecules and condensed matter”.

The aim of the project is to develop theoretical and computational methodologies to investigate the fundamental interactions of positrons and positronium with atoms, molecules and condensed matter. A specific focus is on the development of (diagrammatic) many-body theory approaches to study the effects of positron-atom/molecule and positron-electron correlations on the processes of positron binding, scattering and annihilation in such systems.  One of the goals is to incorporate positrons into existing state-of-the-art many-body theory based electronic structure codes to enable an accurate ab initio description of positron interactions with either molecules, or condensed matter.  The gained insights will have an impact on the development of positron-based technologies, materials diagnostic techniques, medical imaging, etc.

Biography

I finished my BSc. and MSc. degrees in Physics and Theoretical Physics at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. My prior research involved quantum chemistry and electronic structure theory. In particular, I studied non-covalent interactions in extended electronic systems in the group of Jiri Klimes. I also spent one semester at KU Leuven through the Erasmus+ exchange programme.
