Optimising Treatment and Community Health

Three Grand Challenges
Optimising Treatment & Community Health

We work to optimise strategies and technologies (e.g. sensors and monitoring systems, improved age-appropriate formulations) for enhanced patient care through more personalised and effective diagnosis, patient-specific prediction of drug response and evidence-based interventions (organisational and behaviour change), thus enabling stratified care pathways. Such information supports self-management of health and well-being. In so doing, we aim to enhance treatment for the individual, which, in turn, can transform community-based health and care. This clinical focus on improving health outcomes by focusing on technologies and organisational and intervention strategies for timely and accurate diagnosis, stratification, predictive modelling, adherence and real-time, evidence-based decision making is a collaborative model, involving patients, healthcare professionals and informal carers. Our aim is to deliver the right treatment to the right patient at the right time; a patient-centred approach and a critical part of medicines optimisation.
