We will track the field’s historical foundations through the work of early conductors, such as Sun Ra, Frank Zappa, Leonard Bernstein, Karl Berger, leading to the formalization published systems such as Butch Morris’s Conduction, Walter Thompson’s Soundpainting, and John Zorn’s Cobra, alongside Latin American contributions like Santiago Vázquez's Ritmo y Percusión con Señas. Guilherme will introduce the concept of hybrid conducting to demonstrate how integrating diverse strategies can foster a transformative, adaptive musical practice that dissolves the traditional boundaries in contemporary improvisation.

Guilherme Peluci de Castro is a Brazilian musician, researcher, conductor and architect. He has conducted around 500 artists in various improvisation sessions, including orchestras such as the London Improvisers Orchestra, São Paulo Improvisadores em Orchestra, Rio Art Orchestra, Sesc Chamber Orchestra and Unirio Big Band. Participated in different projects in festivals and tours in China, USA, France, UK, Argentina, Senegal and Brazil
