Date(s)
October 3, 2024
Location
Sonic Lab, SARC
Time

Songwriter, soprano and multi-instrumentalist Suzanne Savage is delighted to return to Alma Mater QUB this October joined by So Young Yoon (Piano) and Dave Mooney (Double Bass) to perform new material.

Influenced by songwriters such as Jeff Buckley, the music 1930’s and 40’s Cabaret era, and the lyricism of Irish traditional song, Suzanne’s warm, crystalline voice spins the thread of stories through a tapestry of her own music. Recipient of the 2023 Irish Arts Council Music Bursary for work on a new album, her recent work explores connections between Donegal and cross-border music, inspired by family, conflict, and connection. Alongside her songwriting, Suzanne is a well respected contemporary classical
soloist, jazz musician and prolific session musician across genres. She will revisit her role as soloist with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra on Sept 21st in Dublin’s 3Arena for “The Words and Music of Leonard Cohen,” and other recent work includes premiering new works with artist Niamh McCann and contemporary vocal ensemble “Tonnta” with Iarla O’Lionard for “Who decides, Hawk or Dove,” and soprano soloist in Amanda Coogan’s “Possession,” in collaboration with composer Linda Buckley and The Dublin Dance Theatre of the Deaf, premiered in the Project Arts Centre Dublin in Feb, to be revisited for the Cork Mid-summer Festival this June.

Suzanne’s voice and string ensemble collaboration “The Savage Five,” tours Ireland in 21st-27th Oct 2024, appearing in the Belfast Festival at the Duncairn Arts Centre Fri 25th. She has performed with the Paul Brady Band as backing vocalist and violinist for over a decade, and for many international Jazz and Folk festivals with her own music, and with other collaborators.
