Aoife will speak about her experiences of collaboration across a range of interdisciplinary research projects, and share what she has learned, and continues to learn, about connection in interdisciplinary collaborative contexts. Aoife's talk will be introduced by Dr Finola Cronin (dancer and choreographer, formerly of UCD / Pina Bausch) and Dr Sian Barber (Reader, QUB, Film Studies) and will be of interest to anyone who engages in collaborative work.

Aoife is dancer and choreographer who engages in dance practice-as-research, critical dance scholarship, and dance engagement, policy, and advocacy work. After a professional dance career in Germany and Ireland she worked as a choreographer, director, community dance and theatre facilitator, critic, and as Dance Advisor for the Irish Arts Council. She joined Queen’s University Belfast as Lecturer in 2012 and was appointed Professor of Dance in 2023. In her current work, she is interested in finding out how embodied knowledge can be valued and included within policy-informing collaborative research processes. Aoife will speak about her experiences of interdisciplinary collaboration in dance research projects with scholars working in social science, psychology, education, and the health sciences, and also with artists and community stakeholders across a range of local and global contexts.
