Going from strength to strength: The Insight Programme 2016

25 July, 2016

We are delighted to announce the fourth year of our very successful Insight Programme.

Insight Programme 2016

The Insight Programme is the School’s optional work placement module for our Level Three students.  The Programme allows our students 15-20 days graduate work experience during their final year.   Students work on a discreet project whilst on placement and are continually assessed as part of their undergraduate degree through completion of coursework and placement visits.

Insight Programme Manager, Patricia Castle said:

“We started the Programme back in 2013 with 14 students taking part in the first year.  This year we have over 50 placements available and are looking forward to engaging with first-time employers and organisations who have been with us since Day One.

I am thrilled by how successful these placements have been both in terms of employers having tangible outputs but also from the students’ perspective, who gain confidence and experience in the workplace so close to graduation.   Our previous placement students have thoroughly enjoyed the module and have been given time to explore a career path they are interested in - some have even secured permanent employment with their placement provider!

I would like to extend my thanks to the employers who are working with us this year;  A V Browne, Abbeyfield & Wesley, Action Cancer, Adoreboard, Aperture, Axiom, BELB, Belfast City Council, Belfast Health & Social Care Trust, Belfast Interface Project, Cancer Focus, Carecall, CCEA, Child Brain Injury Trust, Lower Shankill Community Association, Conway Education Centre, Co-operation Ireland, Crann go Beatha, Friends of the Earth,Guide Dogs NI, HMRC, Hughes Insurance, Ipsos MORI, Link Centre, Linking Generations NI, Marie Curie, Mindwise, Now Group, NSPCC Childline Belfast, Office of the Official Report (Hansard) Northern Ireland Assembly, Praxis Care, Probation Board NI, Queen’s Disability Services, Queen’s Student Welfare, Shelter NI Ltd, Springfield Charitable Association, Stepping Stones, Sure Start, The Rainbow Project, Toward Ltd, Upper Springfield Development Trust, Volunteer SU, William J Clinton Leadership Institute and YMCA”.
