Welcome to Ingrid Odermatt
Ingrid Odermatt - Research Fellow

Ingrid is a neuroscientist who joined the Brain and Behaviour group as a postdoctoral researcher.
She has recently completed her PhD in Neuroscience in the Neural Control of Movement Lab at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. In her PhD projects, she investigated the brain's ability to activate and modulate sensorimotor representations in the absence of overt movements and somatosensory input. Using fMRI and TMS, she studied neuroplasticity in the sensorimotor system induced by neurofeedback training. During her PhD, she was also involved in the organisation of the brain-computer interface (BCI) race of Cybathlon, an international competition to showcase and advance assistive technologies.
Her current research focuses on the development of novel neurofeedback training interventions that aim to improve sensorimotor function. She uses TMS and EEG to enable self-modulation of sensory and motor evoked potentials through mental strategies, such as motor imagery. Such neurofeedback training may benefit patients following a stroke or individuals with functional neurological disorders.
