This seminar is the first in a series organised by the Queen's Department of Education in the School of Social Science, Education and Social Work around the theme Aims of Education. The series will explore some of the ethical, social and cultural purposes of education. Drawing on perspectives from theory, policy and practice the speakers will consider what education is for and what its aims should be in our contemporary context in Northern Ireland. Prof Hilary Cremin is Head of the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge. In her seminar she will explore the concept of 'rewilding' to propose a deconstruction of the current standardised system of education and the development of holistic forms of learning.
