Partnerships
At the School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work (SSESW), we believe that many of the most pressing social issues are global issues. Our academics are engaged in educational and research partnerships that span continents and disciplines - bringing Queen’s expertise to the world and the world’s insights back to Belfast.

These projects address urgent global issues in education, social justice, mental health, and child welfare and are supported by major international and UK funders such as: British Council, UNESCO, AHRC, ESRC and Northern Ireland Government departments.
Collaborations and top research areasOur international teaching partnerships enrich the student experience through PhD projects with students based in their home countries, and visiting scholar exchanges and guest lectures.
We have students from India, China, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Indonesia and many more countries. Some students choose to live in Belfast while studying and others are based in their home countries for fieldwork while being supervised by academic staff at Queen's University.

They engage with teaching through research projects that have direct implications for teaching practices and in delivering guest lectures and participating in student-led research discussions.
