I have spent the majority of my working life as a Science Technician supporting Teaching & Research activities. I didn’t plan it as a career but saw it as an interesting job while I decided what I really wanted to do! After a few years I realized it had become my career and with a few ‘sideways’ moves and brief forays into the Environmental Sector there has been enough variety and new challenges on the horizon to keep me firmly in the Biological Sciences Teaching lab.
What do you find most rewarding about your work?
Being part of a diverse community of students and colleagues, and having the opportunity to develop and grow within my role.
What advice do you have for an aspiring individual hoping to pursue a career in your field?
Develop a strong work ethic and self-motivation, and be prepared to move and take opportunities when they arise.
