Time
11:00 - 15:00

The Centre for Light-Matter Interactions at the School are delighted to host the UK XFEL CDOA team townhall meeting at Queen’s University Belfast.

This will be an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in the possible technologies and applications of a UK XFEL to come and hear and discuss topics surrounding the 'Frontiers of Measurement'.

The townhall meeting promises to be a dynamic and engaging event that brings together top experts in the field to discuss cutting-edge research and the latest technological advancements that are shaping the future of measurement.

The townhall is hosted by Dr Jason Greenwood and Dr Emma McBride.

The event will take place over two days with a number of speakers including:

Carlo Callegari (FERMI) - "Coherent control with XUV radiation"

Nina Rohringer (Hamburg) - "X-ray non-linear optics"

John Costello (Dublin City University) - "Attosecond and multiphoton physics"

Rebeca Boll (European XFEL) - "Coulomb explosion imaging with XFEL"

Christian Svetina (Madrid) - "Hard x-ray transient grating measurements"

Adam Kirrander (Oxford) - "Resonant x-ray scattering"

Mark Dean (ANL, USA) - "RIXS measurements in condensed phase"

Andrew Brown (QUB) - "Multiphoton theory of multielectron systems"

Henry Chapman (Hamburg) - "Nanoscale imaging with x-rays"

David Keen (Oxford) - "Time resolved pair distribution functions"

David Ayuso (Imperial) - "Chiral dynamics of matter and fields"

These presentations will explore various frontiers of measurement technology, including precision measurement, ultrafast spectroscopy, and advanced imaging techniques, with a focus on possible applications to the development of a new Next Generation XFEL machine.

In addition to the keynote speeches, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in workshops, discussions, and Q&A sessions, allowing for meaningful exchanges with their peers and networking opportunities during coffee breaks and evening receptions.

The full programme will be released in due course.
