Join the Renal Arts Group for ‘The Art of Health and Wellbeing

16 September, 2019

Join the Renal Arts Group for ‘The Art of Health and Wellbeing’, an evening of creativity and pizza, as part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science NI

The Art of Health and Wellbeing

Event: The Art of Health and Wellbeing

Date: Wednesday 6th November 2019

Time: 7 – 9pm

Location: The Sunflower Public House

How can the arts improve health, wellbeing and community? Researchers, health professionals and people living with illness share their thoughts.

Historically, the arts have been seen as the remit of the talented few, with most of us putting down our paintbrushes, tidying away our dancing shoes and closing our poetry books after we have left school. This event aims to challenge that notion, showing that not only can everyone engage with the arts, but that art and creativity can be inherently beneficial to our health and wellbeing. We will showcase the artistic work of both healthcare professionals and people living with chronic illness; who will describe the benefit that the arts have had on their health and wellbeing. The event will include live music performances, photography and poetry. Additionally, we will showcase artistic work created by patients during haemodialysis sessions, produced as part of a research project led by Queen's University Belfast.
