Chronic Illness and Palliative Care Research Theme
Improving the health and wellbeing of those affected by chronic illness, and enhancing end-of-life care.
Cutting across all our research themes, we offer:
Meaningful patient and public involvement (PPI) in research co-design – to optimise client centered innovation across the research process.
Design and evaluation of complex healthcare interventions – to provide the evidence base to improve health related outcomes.
Through collaboration with oncologists in the PGJCCR we conduct clinical trials to determine how to better support patients undergoing cancer treatment or receiving palliative care.
Through WWIEM we ensure innovative scientific discoveries are efficiently translated from the 'bench' to the 'bedside', to improve patient care and outcomes.
Through CESI we further our interdisciplinary research to produce robust research evidence to help improve the lives of children, families and communities.
In collaboration with CPH we conduct national and international research to develop practical and feasible solutions to improve outcomes in chronic illness.
Through MATCH we collaborate with colleagues from Schools of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and others to address the global need for smarter materials and advanced technologies to improve health outcomes in an orthopaedic setting.
