This initiative aims to:

  • Conduct an international systematic review of current provision of arts programmes for renal patients which will be co-produced with members of the Renal Arts Group in partnership with arts programmes based in the Philippines, USA and Ireland.
  • Increase the international partnerships of the Renal Arts Group with potential for future collaboration.
  • Identify policy recommendations for future development of arts in health programmes for renal patients and develop a policy brief outlining our recommendations for dissemination to leading arts and health organisations
  • Publication of project outcomes in a peer-review journal and presentation of our findings at an international conference
  • In return, the organisations we work with will offer an arts-based online event to members of the Renal Arts Group

Activity

  • Scoping exercise, to include an overview of the literature, research and knowledge in the field conducted via regular consultations with Renal Arts Group members and partner organisations to identify current arts provision for renal patients
  • Programme and deliver a series of 4 collaborative arts workshops with representatives from partner organisations
  • Draft policy recommendation document in consultation with RAG members and partner organisations
  • Disseminate policy recommendations to leading arts and health organisations and kidney charities
  • Co-author a publication with representatives from partner organisations and present at international conference

Impact:

  • Extend the impact of the research carried out by the Renal Arts Group internationally through collaboration with project partners to reach members of the international renal community
  • Development of robust international partnerships which will allow the group to strengthen existing relationships with external organisations, share our research more widely and work together to inform future policy in this area
