Congratulations to SARC PhD Graduate and ex-employee Úna Monaghan for winning the inaugural Arts Council and National Concert Hall Liam O’Flynn Award 2019

Following on from previous years QUB Film Studies and Production students again shine at the Royal Television Society (NI) student awards on Tuesday 26 March 2019, held at the Black Box in Belfast.

A number of new and existing scholarships and awards are available to students on the QUB Music Pathway. These include Ashby Prize, Robb Performance Scholarship, May Turtle Award, Hamilton Harty Scholarships and Douglas C Harrison Bursary

At the JAM (Junior Academy of Music) brass recital on Saturday 6th April 2019 six pupils received School of AEL, Athena SWAN Initiative Awards.

Dr Zeynep Bulut's debut single Eclipse is released (Diffuse Records, 2019) and is available on iTunes and Spotify.



Congratulations to Zoe Tweedy and Ryan Elliman who are proud winners of the Anjool Maldé Memorial Trust Outstanding Achievement Award in Journalism.

Queen’s academic, Professor Richard Schoch, from the School of Arts, English and Languages co-presented a showcase of Restoration Shakespeare in the Wanamaker Playhouse at Shakespeare’s Globe on 17 July 2019.

Professor of Composition Piers Hellawell attended the world premiere of his new work Family Group with Aliens in San Francisco on 16th August 2019


On Wednesday 18 September, AEL staff, student mentors and student societies gathered in glorious autumnal sunshine for breakfast in the Cloisters to welcome our new students to the School.
