Frank Delaney's Documentary selected by broadcaster TG4 as their Christmas Day Special

14 December, 2022

‘Dessie: Glor na Bo Finne’, a new documentary produced by Broadcast Production’s Frank Delaney has been selected by broadcaster TG4 as their Christmas day documentary special.

Man holding a fiddle

‘Dessie: Glor na Bo Finne’ is an Irish language documentary celebrating the life, times and music of renowned traditional Irish singer Dessie O’Halloran.

The documentary follows Dessie’s cousin and long-time collaborator John O’Halloran as he goes on a journey to find out about this enigmatic and quiet man from Inisbofin Island Co. Galway. From Inisbofin to London to Galway city and across the big stages of the world, this programme tells the life and times of Dessie O’Halloran through interviews with musicologists, musicians, academics, historians and through ordinary people who knew him.

The film also tells the story through performances with well-known musicians, unique archive music and film footage and previously unseen footage filmed with Dessie before he died in 2019.

The programme airs on TG4 Christmas day at 22.25 (with subtitles for those interested in the subject but don’t speak Irish).
