A rich diversity of disciplines and approaches

The School of Arts, English, and Languages comprises a rich diversity of disciplines and approaches, producing engaged and transformative world-class research ranging from literary, linguistic, critical and historical studies to creative practice in performance, media arts, and writing.

Our researchers are international leaders in their fields, whose work has successfully attracted significant funding across the School, addressing many societal issues and challenges in our globalised world.  Interdisciplinarity and collaboration are at the heart of our research activities, allowing us to engage with local, national and international cultural stakeholders. A commitment to interdisciplinarity and contributions to enhancing the performance of the creative economy is reflected in the activities of the School's research centres.
