Girls in Maths and Physics
Girls in Maths and Physics is an event to inspire young female mathematicians and physicists. Bringing together inspirational speakers, fun activities and real life working mathematicians and physicists, this event is targeted at girls aged 12-16 who have an interest in mathematics, physics and their applications.
On 7 June 2023, the School of Maths & Physics welcomed 200 schoolgirls and their teachers from all over Northern Ireland to attend this extremely popular event. The schoolgirls heard from a range of current students, staff and former graduates who discussed what inspired them to study these subjects what career opportunities are available for maths and physics graduates. In addition, they took part in a range of interactive activities that highlighted the research carried out within the School of Maths and Physics.
A big thank you to all the schools who attended: Wallace High School, St Louis Grammar School (Kilkeel), Strabane Academy, Coláiste Feirste, Cambridge House Grammar, St Patrick's College (Maghera), Cookstown High School, Holy Trinity College (Cookstown), Omagh Academy, Antrim Grammar School, Rainey Endowed School and Craigavon Senior High School.
