Girls in Maths and Physics
Girls in Maths and Physics is an event to inspire young female mathematicians and their teachers. Bringing together inspirational speakers, fun activities and real life working mathematicians and physicists, this event is targeted at girls aged 12-16 who have an interest in mathematics, physics and their applications.
In June 2022, we were delighted to welcome Professor Colm Mulcahy, from Spelman College in Atlanta, as our keynote speaker. Colm runs the Annals of Irish Mathematics & Mathematicians (AIMM) website (www.mathsireland.ie) which aims to document all Irish students who earned advanced mathematics degrees. Colm’s talk, entitled "Pioneering Women in Irish Maths & Physics", highlighted Irish women who have made significant contributions to pure and applied maths and mathematical physics from the 1860s to the present day.
Girls in Maths and Physics is sponsored by Queen's School of Mathematics and Physics and the Athena SWAN Initiative.
Details of the 2023 event will be published here soon.
