Work Experience
Pupils taking part in individual work experience within the School of Mathematics and Physics will gain first-hand insight into the daily life of a researcher and discover how mathematics and physics are applied in real-world contexts.
For a more in-depth experience for up to a period of 4 days, we can sometimes facilitate limited Individual Work Experience placements.
To arrange your Individual Work Experience placement, you’ll need to identify and contact a potential supervisor in your chosen field. We recommend reviewing our academic staff profiles here to find someone whose expertise aligns with your interests. Once you've found a suitable supervisor, reach out to them directly via email to discuss the possibility of a placement. They will then email our School Outreach Team with confirmation of the arrangement: mp.outreach@qub.ac.uk
We offer a bespoke Work Experience Programme: Experience Physics - full details here. Please note that it is open to AS Level (or equivalent) students only.
Our programmes, “Experience Physics” and “Experience Maths”, are one-day events, usually held in the last week of June. During these events, you will have the chance to tour the research facilities, talk to researchers, hear from alumni and do some practical work.
Registration for these events opens in the spring.
Please let us know if you would like to be added to the mailing list to be notified when registration opens.
