The overall aim of this doctoral research is to gain an in depth understanding of the phenomena of injury and injury awareness in Northern Irish adolescent rugby players. The overall objective of this doctoral research is threefold; firstly, to identify mechanisms, nature and types of injury sustained by adolescent rugby players; secondly, to gain an understanding of current practices, attitudes and beliefs regarding injury and injury burden in a number of stakeholders (players, parents or caregivers, coaches, trainers and medical staff) and thirdly; to assess the feasibility of implementing an awareness programme. |
