The School of Pharmacy Celebrates with its Graduates at the 2025 Summer Graduation Ceremony
The School of Pharmacy celebrated the achievements of well over 150 graduates across its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at its summer graduation ceremony on Friday the 27th of June.

The ceremony recognised students who have completed degrees ranging from undergraduate programmes in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, and Pharmaceutical Sciences, through to doctoral research, representing the diverse academic pathways available within the School.
Graduates were joined by family, friends, and academic staff to celebrate their academic achievements and mark the beginning of their professional careers in pharmacy and the pharmaceutical industry, contributing to healthcare delivery and advancing pharmaceutical science both locally and internationally.
Reflecting on the graduation celebrations, Professor Lezley-Anne Hanna, who has been the School's Director of Education for its MPharm programme since 2021, stated:
“This is a very significant and exciting time for the pharmacy profession and pharmacy education. The 2021 Standards for the initial education and training of pharmacists has resulted in the largest change to the MPharm degree programme in the last twenty-five years. These Standards lead to independent prescribing rights at the point of professional registration.
Following our successful MPharm reaccreditation, the QUB pharmacy graduates of 2025 represent the first cohort to graduate from our transformed pharmacy degree and we are so proud of their fantastic achievement! Having greater clinical responsibilities within the health service will enable them to have a larger impact on patients’ lives and the safe and effective use of medicines.”
Current Director of Education for the School's undergraduate BSc programmes, along with its MSc in Industrial Pharmaceutics, Professor David Jones, also commented:
"I pass on my most sincere congratulations to all of our graduates in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, and Industrial Pharmaceutics. These are challenging degrees that require commitment and hard work. I hope our graduates are proud of their achievements as they cross the stage to receive their degree certificates. The staff of the School of Pharmacy are most certainly proud of them!"
The School continues to pride itself on producing graduates who are well-prepared for the evolving healthcare landscape, equipped with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills gained through clinical placements, research projects, and industry collaborations.
Speaking of the graduation ceremony, Professor Gavin Andrews, Head of the School of Pharmacy, added:
"Graduation is always a wonderful occasion, as we celebrate the remarkable achievements of our students across all of our programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. These graduates represent the future of healthcare innovation and patient care, having demonstrated exceptional dedication and academic excellence throughout their studies. Our graduates are entering their professions at an exciting time of transformation, equipped with cutting-edge knowledge and skills that will enable them to make meaningful contributions to improving health outcomes. Each one has shown tremendous commitment to their studies, and we have every confidence they will go on to make significant impacts in their chosen careers, whether in clinical practice, research, or industry. This achievement reflects not only their individual excellence but also the outstanding support provided by our dedicated academic and professional services staff."
