MEMBER OF PHARMACY STAFF RECEIVES A PRESTIGIOUS NATIONAL AWARD

31 August, 2018

Dr Lezley-Anne Hanna from the School of Pharmacy has just been awarded a National Teaching Fellowship (NTF).

Commenting on gaining the award, Lezley-Anne said:

"I am absolutely delighted to have received a NTF in recognition of my contribution to Pharmacy Education.I thank the students and many academics and members of the pharmacy profession with whom I have had the pleasure to work with over the years. I look forward to collaborating with other National Teaching Fellows to promote excellence in teaching, knowing the positive impact this can have on the student experience and their future aspirations.”

The NTF scheme, organised and run by the Higher Education Academy (part of Advance HE), celebrates and recognises individuals who have made an outstanding impact on student outcomes and the teaching profession in Higher Education across the United Kingdom. The award scheme started eighteen years ago in 2000, and now there are over 850 National Teaching Fellows.

Each year, typically 55 individuals receive the award following a rigorous selection process. Fellows play an ongoing and important role in enhancing teaching and learning within their institution, the Higher Education sector, and further afield.

The Head of the School of Pharmacy, Professor Carmel Hughes, congratulated Dr Hanna, saying:

“This Fellowship recognises Lezley-Anne’s commitment to education and students within the School of Pharmacy and is very well-deserved.  The School has had a long track record in attracting University Teaching Awards, and this national Fellowship enhances the reputation of the School in its educational activities”

Lezley-Anne will attend a celebratory event in Edinburgh in November to receive her award.
