QUB Framing the Future: A Photovoice Study of Student Perspective on Creative Education Transitions
On 3 February, Careers, Employability and Skills hosted the “QUB Framing the Future” photography exhibition in One Elmwood.
Organised by QUB Careers Consultant Emma Lennox, the exhibition showcased the lived experiences of final year students studying within the School of Arts, English and Languages. Through a powerful collection of images and reflections, the exhibition offered valuable insight into how students perceive, prepare for and navigate their transition from university to the world of work.
Framing the Future was informed by the Employability Capital Growth Model (ECGM). The ECGM is designed to support students in navigating uncertain labour markets and boost career prospects by strengthening nine forms of employability capital: Social, Cultural, Psychological, Personal Identity, Health, Scholastic, Market-Value, Career Identity and Economic.
Framing the Future featured contributions from students representing eight different countries and all AEL subject areas. All photographs were captured on mobile phones, creating a personal and authentic reflection of students’ experiences, particularly during a period of transition as creative students prepare to graduate and enter increasingly non-linear career pathways.
