BSc (Hons) in Health Studies

Designed for registrants who need to top-up their academic profile to degree level, our Health Studies programmes will allow you to study in your own field of expertise, deepening your knowledge and expanding your career progression opportunities.

The BSc (Hons) Health Studies programme provides a range of module options at Level 3/6 to enable you to construct a bespoke pathway of study to meet your personal and professional needs. You choose your own pace of study - studying full-time, you should normally complete six Level 3 modules in one academic year (three in each semester). A part-time course of study should be completed in a minimum of two and a maximum of five years. Part-time students may take no more than four modules in any one academic year.

Entry Requirements
Candidates must normally hold a professional qualification, for example in nursing or midwifery. Note: Some modules require a specific professional qualification. See Selection Criteria for full requirements.

Course Content
Students must undertake the compulsory "Research and Development in Clinical Practice" module (SPR3101) in order to complete the BSc (Hons) Health Studies degree. This module is offered in Spring semester only.
The modules you can choose from are listed here. Please note: modules will run each year subject to viability. Many modules offer blended learning and varied assessment methods, to suit a variety of different learning styles.

Selection Criteria
Applicants must hold at least a Diploma in Higher Education or 120 CAT points at level 2 (diploma level) for entry to Level 3 (degree level) study. Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements should contact the School for advice.
International Trained Nurses/Midwives: If you hold an international qualification you will need to provide a UK ENIC Statement of Comparability. This should be obtained prior to submitting your application. You can apply for a statement through the ENIC website: Statement of Comparability (enic.org.uk)
