The School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences promotes and supports postgraduate research in a wide range of subjects in human health and disease.
Postgraduate research students carry out independent research projects within one of the four internationally recognised Research Centres within the School: Patrick G Johnston Centre for Cancer Research, Wellcome-Wolfson Institute For Experimental Medicine and Public Health.
PhD opportunities may also be available in Medical Education. These Research Centres provide research opportunities across a wide range of medical and biomedical disciplines, including clinical and epidemiological studies, laboratory based science, bioinformatics and computational biology.
Students from each of the Research Centres have an excellent record in completion of degrees and placement in careers in University, Industry and Healthcare.
