Public outreach & key achievements
Dr Claire Hill is passionate about public engagement, regularly hosting events at the Northern Ireland Science Festival and working closely with charities to ensure her research aligns with patient needs.
She was awarded a prestigious 5-year Proleptic Fellowship from the Vivensa Foundation to investigate the molecular underpinnings of sex-inequalities in age-related disease.
A skilled science communicator, she was Runner-Up in FameLab Northern Ireland 2024 and has received multiple awards for scientific communication, most recently at the 2025 European Diabetic Nephropathy Study Group (EDNSG) conference in Amsterdam. As a STEM Ambassador, she actively participates in educational outreach, including the Transplantation Tales event at the NI Science Festival in 2024 and 2025, where Upper Sixth students created eye-catching storyboards on kidney transplantation.
Dr Hill serves on the UK Kidney Association’s Laboratory Scientists Research Committee, supporting training and mentorship across the field.
She also collaborates with researchers globally, recognising international collaboration as essential for diversifying and validating research findings.
