As both a practicing psychiatrist and researcher, Dr Kane's work focuses on mental health, particularly in older people. His main research interest is in dementia and he leads international collaborative projects on Lewy body dementia. He has also published work relating to psychosis and affective disorders (such as depression), as well as in the fields of pharmacoepidemiology, health economics and neuroimaging.
