PG Certificate Public Health

Postgraduate Certificates in Public Health

The Centre for Public Health at Queen’s is offering three new Postgraduate Certificates (PgCerts), designed for learners at different stages of their professional journey, whether you're entering the field or seeking to deepen your expertise.

Each programme offers:

  • 60 CATS credits (entry-level to postgraduate study) - CATS (Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme) points are used to measure academic credit. In most UK higher education programmes, including Public Health, 60 CATS points are needed to complete a Certificate, 120 for a Diploma and 180 for a Master's degree

  • A potential progression route to our Postgraduate Diploma and/or Master’s in Public Health (MPH)

In order to select the most suitable certificate, potential applicants are encouraged to view the module list and content for each certificate.

Public Health Sciences

The Postgraduate Certificate in Public Health Sciences provides a strong foundation in the scientific aspects of public health (epidemiology, research methods, statistics) as well as exploring the determinants of health and an introduction to key health improvement principles.

Public Health Systems and Policy: Theory into Practice

Postgraduate Certificate in Public Health Systems & Policy: Theory into Practice is best suited to those who already have strengths in the field of epidemiology and statistics but who seek to broaden their understanding of the application of their knowledge and skills to public health practice.

Public Health: Data, Systems and Research

The Postgraduate Certificate in Public Health: Data, Systems, and Research is designed for professionals who may have some prior knowledge or experience related to public health but wish to formalise or broaden their understanding by selecting modules that address gaps in their current knowledge or experience.
