The School of Medicine, Dentistry & Biomedical Sciences and the Thomas J. Moran Graduate School, in collaboration with the Eastern Federation Support Unit, are delighted to offer a personal and professional development programme tailored for General Practitioners in Primary Care. This programme is designed for GPs who aspire to take on greater leadership roles within their practice. Participants will gain valuable insights into the personal, interpersonal, and professional skills necessary to effectively manage and lead a practice. Additionally, the programme will guide GPs in creating a Personal Development Plan to further enhance these competencies.
The programme is also accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and successful participants will achieve a Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Level 7 Award in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice alongside obtaining 20 University CAT points.

Eligible applicants must be a current GP Partner / Salaried GP and with (or about to take on) management responsibilities in the practice.

Course Content
This short course is designed for those who want to:
- Accelerate career progression with valuable skills and knowledge;
- Enhance personal leadership styles and self-awareness;
- Connect with peers and mentors, fostering a supportive community.
Online Learning Resources: Each unit is supported with online learning resources, practical guides, and reflective exercises, to enable participants to build on their learning and apply it within their own context and complete the assessment.

The module assessment consists of a 3-part written report which includes reflective accounts and a Personal/Professional Development Plan.
In addition to obtaining a CMI Level 7 Award and 20 University CATS points, this short course can be combined with other short courses to obtain a Certificate in Professional Development for Primary Health Care (60 CATS).

Delivery
This year-long short course features 11 half-day workshops, held in-person at either the Graduate School or the GP Eastern Federation Office.
Each participant will also receive one to one online coaching and is assigned a mentor from within the sector.

Selection Criteria
To be eligible for this programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a current GP Partner or Salaried GP with existing or imminent management responsibilities within their practice.
- Provide qualification certificates as part of the application.
To be eligible for a fully funded place under this programme, applicants must meet each of the following criteria:
- Applicants to be 18 years or older at point of enrolment.
- Applicants must have a right to work and undertake training in the UK at the point of application and for the duration of the course and must not be disqualified from doing either by reason of their immigration status. Proof of this will be required to progress application.
- Applicants must be available to register in person. Individual courses may have enhanced eligibility, potentially including on-campus teaching requirements. Please see each course information page for additional information.
