Shih Chien University Student Delegation Visits Queen’s University Belfast

In November 2025, Queen’s University Belfast welcomed a delegation of 14 students and staff from Shih Chien University (USC) for a multi-day academic and cultural programme.

The USC visit formed part of their international learning experience while supporting discussions around future collaboration between the two institutions.

The academic programme highlighted Queen’s strengths across creative industries, media, business, cultural policy, and translation studies. In Creative Games Technology, the delegation visited the Capture Lab and participated in the Design a Design workshop, experiencing digital creativity and design practice first-hand. Within Media and Broadcast Production, the group received an introduction to the discipline and engaged in a Film Research Through Practice workshop, complemented by tours of the Sonic Lab, TV Studio, and Live Television facilities.

The delegation also spent a full day with Queen’s Business School (QBS), exploring the School’s academic portfolio, touring facilities, and attending a taster lecture that offered insight into contemporary business and management education.

Further sessions showcased Queen’s interdisciplinary expertise. In Arts Management and Cultural Policy, the students participated in a session on culture, creativity, and communication, followed by an industry visit to the Queen’s Film Theatre and Crescent Arts Centre. In Translation and Interpreting, a workshop on storytelling, museums, and multimodal translation provided students with new perspectives on global communication and cultural mediation.

Culture Day

Cultural engagement continued beyond campus with visits to the Giant’s Causeway, a guided tour of Belfast and Titanic Belfast.

The delegation also contributed actively to the University community by hosting a “Culture Day” exhibition in the Peter Froggatt Centre, sharing their traditions, customs, and contemporary culture with Queen’s staff and students.

The programme fostered meaningful academic exchange, strengthened cultural understanding, and further deepened institutional connections between Shih Chien University and Queen’s University Belfast, laying a firm foundation for future partnership development.
