Queen’s Welcomes Jiangnan University for Strategic Collaboration in Food Science
Queen’s University Belfast was pleased to welcome a delegation from Jiangnan University, led by Vice President Professor Ni Songtao, for a productive visit that marks the beginning of an important new international collaboration.
The visit was led by Professor Margaret Topping, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement at Queen’s, and provided an opportunity to explore shared priorities and future partnership opportunities.
A key milestone of the visit is the signing of a progression agreement, establishing a framework for structured academic collaboration and student mobility between the two institutions.
The initial focus of the partnership centres on the School of Biological Sciences, bringing together complementary strengths in Food Science. This is an area of recognised global excellence for both institutions, with Queen’s ranked #1 in the UK (Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025) and Jiangnan University ranked #1 in the world for Food Science and Technology (Shanghai Rankings 2025).
The visit laid strong foundations for collaborative research, knowledge exchange and long-term academic partnership, reinforcing Queen’s strategic commitment to global engagement and impact in priority research areas.
