About the Speaker:
Professor Jane Davies is a leading expert in paediatric respiratory medicine, with a focus on cystic fibrosis (CF). She is based at the National Heart and Lung Institute and serves as an Honorary Consultant at the Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust.

After graduating from the University of Dundee in 1987, she trained in paediatrics in London and developed a research interest in CF, particularly lung infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa. She completed her MD under Professors Andy Bush and Eric Alton and became a Professor in 2013.

She is a key figure in the UK CF Gene Therapy Consortium, leading clinical aspects of gene therapy trials. She also develops and validates outcome measures for CF clinical trials and leads the Core Lung Clearance Index facility in Europe.

Her research spans CF pathogenesis, airway inflammation in children, and non-invasive diagnostics. She co-leads a UK clinic for atypical CF diagnosis using nasal potential difference and contributes to European standardisation efforts.   In addition, she is a 'Research Champion' for the Medicines for Children Research Network.

She has served on research ethics committees, co-edited textbooks, and is a regular speaker and educator in both national and international respiratory and paediatric forums.
