RECORDING TEACHING PRIVACY NOTICE
This Privacy Notice tells you what we do with information we collect to deliver the recording of teaching policy.
WHO WE ARE
We are Queen’s University Belfast, a university with a reputation for excellence in education and research and a member of the Russell Group. Founded in 1845 as Queen's College Belfast, we became an independent university in 1908.
The provision of teaching recordings is recognised throughout the Higher Education sector as a valuable study aid which enhances the student experience by enabling students to revisit and review material
PERSONAL DATA WE USE AND HOW WE USE IT
The University holds information about everyone who uses the teaching recording service. This information is used to identify your level of access to specific lecture recordings and associated materials (presentations, Q&A, transcripts, quizzes, notes) held within the system, report on your usage of the system, provide you with support, maintain our IT system, gather feedback, and for strategic planning purposes.
Recordings and live-stream broadcasts containing your image, voice and any personal opinions and information you express will be made available to be viewed by students and staff enrolled on the associated course. If you are the lecturer, you can choose whether to make recordings or live-stream broadcasts available more widely than this and can control the availability of recordings within a course.
Recordings and other information from the service may be used within the scope of an investigation under the University’s Code for Student Conduct and Code of Staff Conduct as per the Recording Teaching Policy.
REASONS WE CAN COLLECT AND USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA
The University is using information about you in pursuit of its legitimate interests in providing a lecture recording service to its students and staff
WHO WE SHARE YOUR DATA WITH
The University uses an external company Panopto to process information about you in relation to lecture recording on the University’s behalf. The University remains responsible for the information and will ensure it is kept securely.

Personal data will not be processed outside of the UK and/or Europe.
