Dr Maurice Casey

Historian Dr Maurice J. Casey is an expert on histories of revolutionary politics in early twentieth century Europe.
Dr Casey is the author of Hotel Lux: An Intimate History of Communism’s Forgotten Radicals, shortlisted for History Book of the Year at the 2024 Irish Book Awards. His research has explored radical politics in Ireland and the Soviet Union, alongside histories of migration, sexuality and anti-fascism.
His current project examines an anti-Nazi resistance network that operated out of a vegetarian restaurant in London during the 1930s.
Dr Casey is the presenter of a forthcoming BBC Radio 4 documentary focusing on his wider work in histories of anti-fascism.
