Professor Billy Melo Araujo is a leading expert in international trade policy and law.

He is an expert in international trade law and EU law and the Director of the International Economic Law Centre at Queen’s University Belfast (Q-IEL). Professor Billy Melo Araujo is a leading expert on UK post-Brexit trade law and policy, with a particular focus on Northern Ireland and the Windsor Framework.

Public engagement is an important feature of Professor Billy Melo Araujo’s research. He has advised, on a consultancy basis, the Northern Ireland Department for the Economy on trade law related matters and provided training to the governments of Northern, Ireland, Scotland and Wales on international trade law. He is a member of the UK government’s Trade and Sustainable Development Domestic Advisory Group. He has also given evidence to the International Trade Committee of the House of Commons as well as the Finance and Constitution Committee of the Scottish parliament.
