Export Control Resources

The following resources are provided as a quick guide on Export Controls and how you might assess whether they might apply to your research and require you to apply, or register, for an appropriate licence.

Export Controls will apply where you are transferring goods / items / technology / information / knowledge that appears on the UK Strategic Export Controls list, or if your partner is potentially high risk. This includes transfers of Dual-Use goods / items / technology / information / knowledge to the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.

Remember that the control applies to the capability of the technology and not its intended end use.

If you are unsure or have any queries about whether export controls may apply to your research please contact trustedpartnerships@qub.ac.uk , we will require your expertise in your field of research to determine whether a licence is required.

It is important to note that intentional attempts to evade UK export controls is also a criminal offence and may result in a fine or imprisonment.
