EPSRC Impact Acceleration Account

EPSRC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) Funding Opportunity

Impact acceleration account (IAA) is a strategic award that provides funding to Queen's University for a wide range of impact activities. This award enables researchers to develop flexible, creative and tailored approaches to increase the impact of their research by building new or developing existing partnerships locally and across the world.

EPSRC IAA Call 4 opens: Monday, 3rd April and closes: Monday, 16 May 2023

EPSRC recognises that the IAAs are an important mechanism for delivering impact for Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS) research and that there is a strong potential in supporting greater connectivity across the broader EPS ecosystem.

Funding is available for a wide range of projects that will accelerate the impact of EPSRC research: secondments, Collaboration Catalyst (working with a partner) and Demonstration of Commercial Principle projects, Enterprise Fellowships and for non-commercially focused impacts.  Projects wishing to focus on non-commercial impacts and in particular projects with potential policy impacts are encouraged.  Applications of ECRs who have held EPSRC New Investigator Awards are also encouraged.  Typical funding for each project is expected to be between £2,500 and £10,000 (with up to £30,000 available for secondments).  Activities funded through the EPSRC IAA award should have potential to be developed into a case study, if required. We expect IAA funding to add value to existing UKRI support. IAA funding should enable multidisciplinary working and collaboration with non-academic partners.  It is not a requirement that IAA-funded projects are related to previous UKRI funding.

EPSRC equality, diversity, and inclusion action plan 2022 to 2025

EPSRC is committed to a long-term plan of action around equality, diversity, and inclusion and have developed an EDI action plan that sets out our priorities for 2022 to 2025. EPSRC has detailed initial actions and expected outcomes across five action sets

In addition to the EPSRC funding new Calls are due to open in 2023 for applications to the following Impact Acceleration Accounts:  Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to support researchers through activity, placements/fellowships with external organisations, partnership development and the commercialisation of research
