Inspiring China Graduates Join Queen’s Leaders 18-45

Four new trailblazers have been added to the list of Queen’s graduates being honoured by the University as part of the 180th anniversary celebrations.

The initiative recognises remarkable graduates and students who are leading the way across a range of fields including business, the arts, finance, law, sport, business, medicine and civic society. 

Gynaecologist Dr Beidi Wang and Professor Zhile Yang took part in an event in Bejing as part of a high-profile delegation from Queen’s that included the NI Assembly’s Minister for the Economy Caoimhe Archibald. Attended by more than 60 Queen’s alumni along with educational and business partners, Beidi and Zhile were able to outline their achievements and the part Queen’s played.  

Beidi is the founder of Guangzhou Beth Biotechnology Co., Ltd which operates women's health clinics and researches, develops and produces women's health products. 

She says: “I am proud to be a member of Queen’s Leaders 18-45, and this recognition means a great deal to me. This is a tremendous encouragement for me after three years of entrepreneurship, and it is also an acknowledgment of my achievements in advancing women’s health.” 

Zhile, who graduated with a PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2016, is now an Associate Professor at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIAT) where he has developed strong international research collaborations. 

He says: “This is a very big honour to me. I feel really lucky to have this new role to link with Queen's which has a large number of Alumni in China and has been very successful in a various of area.” 

Two additional graduates, who were not able to attend the event have also been recognised: Dr Zoe Zou, a pharmacist and leader in biopharmaceuticals who heads the Antibody Product Development Department at JeYouPharma Co. Ltd., and Eric Pei, an award-winning leader in global architecture, engineering and construction (AEC).
