A new book on the Maze/Long Kesh prison, one that took some twenty years to write, is published this month.

Louise Purbrick, author of “H Blocks: an Architecture of the Conflict in and about Northern Ireland” (Bloomsbury, 2023) and Cahal McLaughlin, Director of the Prisons Memory Archive (PMA) one of the editors of the recent collection, “Prisons Memory Archive: a Case study in Filmed Memory of Conflict” (Vernon Press, 2022) will discuss the material and historical record of the H Blocks, how its site, its documents, including its audiovisual documents held in the PMA, can be investigated and contribute to collective and memory of the conflict.
