Raj Thakur is a Professor in Pharmaceutics at the School of Pharmacy, with over 12 years of expertise in developing innovative drug delivery systems, focusing on treating chronic ocular disorders like age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. He has supervised several PhD students and postdocs and has extensive experience designing and characterizing long-acting systems and medical devices for ocular and transdermal applications.

In addition to his academic work, Professor Thakur is Founder and CTO of the spinout company Re-Vana Therapeutics. Re-Vana is a pioneering ocular drug delivery and therapeutic company focused on developing the sustained-release large molecule biologics to treat serious eye diseases.

He has authored over 160 scientific publications, five books, and has given several invited talks. He is an inventor on over five issued/pending patents on long-acting drug delivery platforms. He serves on the editorial boards of Ophthalmic Drug Delivery, Frontiers in Drug Delivery, and is Associate Editor for Drug Delivery Translation Research.
