Event Overview

Join this Postdoc Life information session for a practical introduction to maximising your researcher profile using Pure, and how to link your ORCID and Scopus IDs for maximum benefit.  The session will also briefly introduce Scopus and SciVal, focusing on how these tools help you understand the visibility and reach of your research.

For postdoctoral researchers, having an accurate and up-to-date researcher profile is important for visibility, funding and fellowship applications, and career development. This session will focus on the key steps needed to ensure your publications and outputs are correctly attributed to you, and to understand what the available tools can be used for.

In this session, we will cover:

  • Pure at Queen's: Managing your researcher profile and understanding how linked identifiers support visibility and data synchronisation.
  • ORCID and Scopus Author IDs: Why they matter, and how to check and link them to ensure your publication record is accurate.
  • Using Metrics appropriately: A short overview of Scopus & SciVal, and what they can (and cannot) tell you about research reach and impact.

There will be time for questions at the end of the session.

This information session is aimed primarily at postdoctoral researchers and research staff; however, all are welcome to attend.

The 'Postdoc Life' Series

The 'Postdoc Life' series of information sessions aims at highlighting some of the internal and sector developments and initiatives to postdocs and research staff, in order to help them better understand and navigate their direct (Queen's) and wider (UK Research and Innovation sector) environment.

Sessions are organised several times per year, with topics informed by the PDC Representatives' Network. All postdocs and research staff can suggest future topics by contacting the PDC (pdc@qub.ac.uk) or their local representative.
