This seminar is the second in a series organised by the Queen's Department of Education in the School of Social Science, Education and Social Work around the theme Aims of Education.

The series will explore some of the ethical, social and cultural purposes of education.

Drawing on perspectives from theory, policy and practice the speakers will consider what education is for and what its aims should be in our contemporary context in Northern Ireland. Professor Daniel Muijs is the Head of School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work at Queen's University in Belfast. He previously worked in a range of universities in Flanders, the Netherlands and England, and as Head of Research at Ofsted.
