Looking for an international study experience in Taiwan with scholarship support?

The Huayu B.E.S.T. (Bilingual Exchanges of Selected Talent) Programme at Shih Chien University, Taipei offers students the chance to learn Mandarin, immerse themselves in Taiwanese culture, and gain valuable international experience.

What’s Included

  • Intensive Mandarin language classes (15 hours/week)
  • Scholarship funding & financial support
  • Optional teaching internship in Taiwanese schools
  • Cultural activities & language exchange
  • Official programme certificate

Who Can Apply?

  • Queen's Undergraduate & postgraduate students
  • Queen's students interested in Mandarin, Chinese Studies, Education, International Relations, or East Asian culture
  • No previous Mandarin study required (beginner to advanced levels available)

Scholarship Funding

  • Total value: NTD 28,000 per month (approx. £650)
  • After tuition & activity fees, students receive NTD 15,000 monthly living allowance (approx. £350)
  • Accommodation provided by Shih Chien Chinese Language Center:
    • Female dormitory: On campus, 4–6 students per room
    • Male dormitory: Off campus, approx. 15-minute bus ride, 4 students per room
