Conall Laverty

“I see 18-45 as a platform to give back - whether through mentoring, supporting entrepreneurial initiatives, or collaborating on projects that have positive social and environmental impact.”

As founder and CEO of Wia, Conall Laverty is pioneering technology that drives energy monitoring and sustainability solutions worldwide. From logistics giants to supply chain leaders, the Irish tech company’s innovations are now deployed across more than 40 countries. With a background in software and electronics engineering, Conall’s career has spanned games, media, energy and hardware.

He has been recognised on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for Technology and co-founded the Open Source Ventilator project which produced vital medical equipment during the Covid-19 pandemic, and grew from just three people to over 6,000 in a matter of weeks. Beyond technology, Conall is passionate about music, enjoys running, travel, and the outdoors, and even finds creativity in building with Lego.

"My time at Queen’s sparked my interest in building technology that makes a difference. The strong grounding in computer games and software engineering gave me the technical confidence to launch and scale Wia, while the culture of innovation and collaboration instilled the entrepreneurial mindset that still drives me today."

For Conall, being part of Queen’s Leaders 18–45 offers a chance to share experiences with other innovators, mentor future talent and support initiatives that create meaningful social and environmental impact.

Now leading a company that is shaping sustainable futures on a global scale, Conall continues to draw on the lessons of his time at Queen’s.

"Queen’s gave me the space and support to experiment, create, and learn from brilliant people. The combination of rigorous technical training and a vibrant student community encouraged me to think big and turn ideas into reality.”
